Woman hit by car in downtown Salt Lake City upgraded to serious condition

A woman was in serious condition Friday, the day after she was struck in downtown Salt Lake City by a car.

Salt Lake City police said the 58-year-old woman was hit while crossing the intersection of 900 S. West Temple Street against the light just before 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The woman initially was transported to the hospital in critical condition, but was reported to have been upgraded on Friday. She was expected to survive her injuries, police said.

The driver of the car that hit the woman was not cited.
